ECCHA Announces First On-Staff Vet Tech

ECCHA Welcomes First Veterinary Technician

Eau Claire, WI | 8/9/24 — Eau Claire Community Humane Association (ECCHA) is delighted to announce the appointment of our inaugural Veterinary Technician, Liz Berg, who will be serving three days per week alongside our veterinarian, Dr. Gooden. With a dedicated background in animal welfare, Liz brings invaluable expertise and a passion for enhancing the well-being of our shelter residents.

Liz has served in almost every role at ECCHA over her 15 year tenure, including animal caretaker, foster coordinator, adoption coordinator, and most recently, humane officer. Liz took a few months off from ECCHA to finish her Vet Tech program and gain experience outside of a shelter setting, but found that her real passion lies in shelter medicine. Her new role will encompass administering treatments and vaccines, conducting health assessments, and supporting surgical procedures, all aimed at ensuring every animal receives the highest level of care possible.

“We are thrilled to welcome Liz back to ECCHA,” expressed Shelley Janke, Executive Director of ECCHA. “Her experience and dedication will enhance our ability to meet the medical needs of homeless animals, furthering our mission to rescue and rehome pets in our community. We could not have asked for better timing on Liz’s schooling and our need for a Vet Tech!”

As part of ECCHA’s ongoing commitment to improving animal welfare, the addition of a Veterinary Technician represents a significant step forward. Liz will play a pivotal role in bolstering our medical capabilities with Dr. Goodin, ensuring that each animal receives personalized care and attention.

“I am excited to be back at ECCHA and contribute to the health and well-being of these deserving animals,” shared Liz. “Working alongside the ECCHA team is a privilege, and I look forward to making a positive impact once again in my new role.”

The creation of this role was made possible through the generosity of our donors and community supporters, whose contributions enable us to expand our services and continue our mission. ECCHA extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported us in this endeavor.
