Become a Volunteer

Support our mission & be a voice for animals in need.

No prior experience or animal expertise required.

With many ways to volunteer — including socializing with pets, fostering an animal, supporting our outreach programs, helping to provide a clean and safe environment, and providing office/clerical support — you can play an essential role in supporting the needs of the animals while they search for their forever homes.

Our volunteer opportunities offer a variety of times throughout the day that allow you the flexibility to volunteer around your schedule — seven days per week between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, including service-learning students, community service projects, and youth volunteers.

FAQs

Check out our list of frequently asked questions. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, please reach out to us.
What happens after I submit my volunteer application?

Once the application process is completed and reviewed, you will receive an email invite to sign up for an hour of online orientation, which is required for all volunteers. There is a small orientation fee of $20 that helps support the training and needs of volunteers and includes a volunteer t-shirt.

During the orientation, volunteers learn about the humane association, our policies and procedures, as well as the programs you can get involved with.

Do I have to work with the animals as a volunteer?
No! Volunteers are needed in all areas. Including laundry, dishes, data entry, office work, events and more!
Can kids volunteer?

Volunteers under the age of 18 will require consent from a parent/legal guardian. Any volunteers ages 10-15 must also be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian or an adult who has completed the required online orientation. Volunteers under the age of 10 are reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the safety of those children volunteering.
