ECCHA: Eau Claire COMMUNITY Humane Association
Eau Claire County Humane Association Announces Name Change to Eau Claire Community Humane Association
Eau Claire, WI – July 15, 2024 – The Eau Claire County Humane Association (ECCHA) is excited to announce that it is changing its name to the Eau Claire Community Humane Association (ECCHA). This change reflects our ongoing commitment to serving not just the animals of Eau Claire County, but the entire community.
New Name, Same Continued Mission
The decision to transition from “County” to “Community” was made to better encapsulate the broad scope of our services and the diverse population ECCHA serves. We wanted to keep the same ECCHA shorthand that the community already knows while showing how we have changed to better serve Eau Claire and beyond. Over the years, our organization has grown and evolved, providing vital resources, education, and support to individuals and families throughout the region. Our new name signifies our dedication to inclusivity and the strong, supportive network we’ve built within the community.
“Our new name, Eau Claire Community Humane Association, better represents the heart and spirit of our organization,” said Shelley Janke, Executive Director of ECCHA. “We are deeply rooted in the community, and this change shows our commitment to being an inclusive and accessible resource for everyone in Eau Claire and beyond. We look forward to continue our work with the same passion and dedication.”
About Eau Claire Community Humane Association
Founded in 1968, the Eau Claire Community Humane Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to be a voice for all animals by providing education, resources, support for the community and compassionate care for homeless animals until they can be placed in forever homes. Our mission is to create a compassionate community where every animal is treated with respect and kindness. We offer a range of programs and services, including adoption, spay/neuter assistance, educational outreach, and volunteer/foster opportunities.
ECCHA is the only “open admission” shelter within a 100-mile radius of the city of Eau Claire. This means we take any animal considered domesticated regardless of age, breed, temperament, medical status or behavior. We serve them all – from dogs, cats, small animals, reptiles and chickens to goats, horses…and more.
